Combination alcohol and soft drugs no longer allowed in Amsterdam

Despite lobbying by the city of Amsterdam, starting today, pubs can no longer both sell soft drugs and alcohol.

The Minister of Justice turned out not be convinced, and consequently all 44 pubs in Amsterdam that still sold a combination of both, have had to choose: either become a pub with an alcohol license, or continue as a coffee shop (= sell soft drugs).

Four pubs have indicated they want to continue as a pub, the rest will become a coffeeshop.
