| | Hendrick Avercamp (1585 - 1634) - The Little Ice Age | The Rijksmuseum presents the first exhibition devoted to Hendrick Avercamp, the foremost painter of Dutch winter landscapes in the 17th century. Avercamp was the first Dutch artist to specialise in paintings of winter landscapes featuring people enjoying the ice. Some 400 years on, our image of life in the harsh winters of the Golden Age is still dominated by Avercamp’s ice scenes with their splendid narrative details of couples skating, children pelting each other with snowballs and unwary individuals falling through the ice. | | Performed by : | Category : Exhibition | | Date/time : Friday Nov 20 2009 until Monday Feb 15 2010 (daily from 9 am till 6 pm, Friday till 8.30 pm) | Price : adults € 12.50/ children 18 and under: free | | Tickets(*) : at the museum or online you can print your own e-ticket!

Taverns, fairs, village revelries and the accompanying feasting and fighting were favourite themes in art of the Low Countries in the 16th and 17th centuries, and were meant to be both entertaining and educational. This graphic pub-crawl in 18 prints and drawings takes in some of the most colourful watering-holes in the Rijksmuseum Print Room collection. | | Performed by : | Category : Exhibition | | Date/time : Tuesday Dec 01 2009 until Monday Mar 01 2010 (daily from 9 am till 6 pm, Friday till 8.30 pm) | Price : adults € 12.50/ children 18 and under: free | | Tickets(*) : at the museum or online you can print your own e-ticket!
