published: Monday, August 23 2010, 7:39PM

SAIL Amsterdam 2010 has attracted 1.5 million visitors to Amsterdam.

Today was the closing day of the biggest nautical event in the Netherlands, SAIL Amsterdam.

The ships left Amsterdam this morning, to set sail for Bremerhaven, in Germany, where the German version of SAIL is to be held.

The SAIL organization was very lucky with the weather. From Thursday till Sunday evening the weather was nice.

Friday was the Crew Parade; crews of all tall ships marched through the centre of Amsterdam, ending at Nieuwmarkt square.

Saturday was the busiest day, with half a million visitors. This was a busy day for Amsterdam, as in the evening there was also the Prinsengracht concert.

Especially popular was the firework show, that was held every evening.
