SAIL 2010 has arrived in the Amsterdam harbour

published: Thursday, August 19 2010, 6:15PM

Today was the SAIL-IN Parade through the NorthSea Canal (from the coastal town IJmuiden) to the Amsterdam harbour.

SAIL is the nautical event that takes place in Amsterdam, every 5 years. Many tall ships are moored in the Amsterdam harbour, to be watched and visited.

The event will attract hundreds of thousands of visitors, and lasts from today until Monday August 23.

The Sail area is accessible for free.

On Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening, at 10pm, there is a large firework.

For all information, see http://www.sail.nl (also partly in English).

See our map on Google for the walking route, ferries and firework location.
Please note: the route must be walked from begin to end - the ferries will only transport passengers in that direction!
