He worked during a company party that was held in the windmill. One of the activities was apparently 'wing turning': you get tied to one of the wings of the windmill, to be turned around.

The man (75) stepped aside too late, and one of the wings hit him with such force that he got thrown off the windmill, and fell 4 meters. He died in the hospital of his injuries.

The Sloten windmill is one of the tourist attractions of Amsterdam. It is the only windmill in Amsterdam (of the eight windmills Amsterdam has) that can be visited, and has a museum display inside.
