Exhibtion of old maps and views on Amsterdam in the City Archives

Tomorrow the exhibition 'Aanzien van Amsterdam' ('View on Amsterdam') will be opened in the Amsterdam City Archives.

In the 16th and 17th century, thousands of maps and panoramic views on Amsterdam have been produced. After Rome and Venice, Amsterdam has been portrayed the most often.
The Amsterdam City Archives own an important collection of originals, that are on display in this exhibition.

A book belonging to the exhibition, with many reproductions of old maps, is for sale in the museum bookshop.

The exhibtion is in the new building of the City Archives: De Bazel, Vijzelstraat 32.

Date/time : Friday Oct 19 2007 until Sunday Jan 06 2008 (Tue-Sat 10am–5pm, Sunday 11-5 ) Price : E 6,- (children E 3.-)
