Amsterdam Museumplein ready for football match Netherlands-Uruguay

published: Monday, July 05 2010, 7:17PM

Museumplein square will again be the central location for soccer fans who want to watch the semi-finals match Holland-Uruguay.

The square (located behind the Rijksmuseum) drew some 40,000 spectators last Friday, when Holland won from Brazil. After the match, a large party broke out.

Because of this victory, Holland placed itself for the semi-finals, in which it has to play against Uruguay.

The tension in the country is rising; the victory over Brazil, which was not expected by most, means that the world championship title can become reality.

First, however, the match against Uruguay has to be won. This will be played on Tuesday evening, July 6, at 8.30pm.
The weather promises to be good, not as hot as last Friday.
Museumplein will be open from 7pm.

The organizer, Radio 538, says it has arranged the biggest mobile screen available in Europe for the match Holland-Uruguay.

Other cities in the Netherlands have also arranged for large outdoor screens, and several safety measures for the partying afterwards - in case Holland wins.

The match can also be watched in hundreds of cafes throughout Amsterdam, if you're not into very large crowds.
