The old record of 6.2 degrees Centigrade (held by the years 1921, 1975 and 1983) is now broken with 7.1 degrees in January 2007. The normal average temperature in our climate is 2.8 degrees.

This record is a continuation of a series of heat records set in 2006. In the past year Holland had the warmest July month, the warmest autumn ever, and also year of 2006 as a whole was the warmest year measured since 1706.

Up to now, Amsterdam has had no real frost, and no snow in this winter.

January was also relatively wet, and there was less sunshine than usual.
