Holland is one of the 16 European countries using the Euro currency. Malta and Cyprus started using the common currency on January 1, 2008.
Slovakia joined on January 1, 2009.

The 16 Euro countries:

Netherlands

Slovenia
Spain

The 11 other countries that are European Union members still have their own currency. These are:
Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden and the United Kingdom.



Of the 27 European Union countries, 16 use the Euro.

This is the Dutch version, with the head of Queen Beatrix. Although the 16 countries have a different back side of their Euro coins, all coins are valid throughout the Euro zone.

There are coins of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 cent, and of 1 and 2 Euro. Banknotes can be 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 or 500 Euro. Bills of 200 and 500 Euro are often not accepted in shops (sometimes even E 100 notes will not be accepted).
