Weather problems in the Netherlands continue

Today too, the weather problems because of the snow and frost continue. Amsterdam is again covered with a layer of snow.

Driving by car is difficult. There are more traffic jams than usual (more than 100 km in the middle of the day), and sometimes only one lane is available. In many places, traffic is slow, and many accidents have been reported.
The morning rush hour is expected to fluently move into the evening rush hour.

The Dutch Railways advised travellers again to not travel by train, unless absolutely necessary. Apparently, this advice is laregely ignored by the public, so some train stations are very busy. Many train services have been cancelled, and where there are trains, there are fewer than normal. The Dutch Railways say they worry not everyone may be able to get home this evening.
Travellers to and from Schiphol Airport are advised to take more time for the journey.
More information can be found on www.ns.nl.

Schiphol Airport is also still experiencing delays and cancellations. Travellers are advised to enquire beforehand whether their flight is still scheduled to leave.

The weather problems are expected to continue in the course of the day, as more snow is expected. Temperatures will remain around freezing.

Public transport in Amsterdam is now also experiencing delays. Buses are driving, but irregularly. This morning, two trams were derailed in Amsterdam. It is still unclear whether this was caused by the bad weather.
