This Friday is the start of the 34th Uitmarkt, the yearly start of the cultural season.
The Uitmarkt lasts the entire weekend, until Sunday evening. A lot of theaters and performers present themselves with free (or almost free) short (30 minutes) performances.
This year, the Uitmarkt takes place mainly at Museumplein and Leidseplein (and near the Vondelpark). Performances will be held at numerous theatres, museums and at venues near these three primary locations. A book market can be found on Museumplein and a lot of information is available at stands en route between Leidseplein and Museumplein.
The 3 main locations of the Uitmarkt 2012 are Museumplein square, Leidseplein square and Vondelpark. (See numbers 1, 7 and 15 on this map).
