The restaurant hit the news in March 2013 when it voluntarily gave up its Michelin stars. Ron Blaauw was quoted to say that Michelin risked becoming old-fashioned.
With Ron Gastrobar he wanted to become more simple and affordable, and target a younger crowd. The restaurant has E 15,- dishes on the menu, that can be ordered separately - and are still of high quality.
Remarkably - the restaurant gained (and accepted) a Michelin star again for the 2014 list.
