Rijksmuseum Amsterdam to close for 4 weeks, re-opened April 13

Before the grand re-opening on April 13, the Rijksmuseum closes down completely from March 18.

During the 4 weeks of closure the top pieces of the museum are moved to the main building.

On April 13, Queen Beatrix will (just before her abdication on April 30) reopen the museum, which has been largely closed for renovation for a decade.
During the renovation the main pieces could be seen in the Philips Wing, where a million visitors visited.
They expect double that amount once the renovated museum is open.

The infamous bicycle path that runs under the arch of the Rijksmuseum will remain closed for another month or so.
The museum management wants no cyclists near the main entrance (under the arch), but after lots of discussion the City authorities decided the bicycle path will be restored.
