'Re-opening' of main gay street in Amsterdam

Today, the Reguliersdwarsstraat will be 're-opened' as the main gay street of Amsterdam.

Of course, the street is already open, but today 3 new gay venues will open, in the presence of mayor Eberhard van der Laan, and a manager of the Heineken Beer company.
The mayor will open the street at 6pm.

Three pubs, Ludwig II, the Eve and the Havana will open today. From 5pm this will be celebrated with a street party.

Reguliersdwarsstraat has been a famous gay street in Amsterdam since the 1980's. However, last year disaster struck for the (in)famous street.
Several gay bars went bankrupt, and a few got involved in a legal fight with the Heineken brewery. Most gay bars in Reguliersdwarsstraat closed down.

But this year, (gay) life appears to be coming back in the street. Several gay bars have already (re)opened earlier this year.
After the re-opening today, Reguliersdwarsstraat will have 11 gay bars.
