Navy Days started in Den Helder (July 11, 12 and 13)

Today, the Navy Days (Marinedagen) have started in the Dutch Navy town Den Helder.

During the Navy Days several war ships can be visited, and there are many demonstrations of all kinds of navy material and vehicles.

Den Helder is the main Dutch Navy town, and is located North of Amsterdam. It is a 1hr and 13 minutes (direct) train ride from Amsterdam Central Station (see www.ns.nl for itinerary).

The ride to Den Helder gives you a nice opportunity to see more of the country. Trains go all day long from early morning to midnight.
On your way back you might stop at picturesque towns like Schagen or Alkmaar (your train ticket remains valid).

From the train station Den Helder Centraal there are free shuttle buses to the Navy grounds.

The Navy Days are always very popular. This year too, some 200,000 visitors are expected, so it is recommended you take the train, not a car. If necessary, the Dutch Railways will use extra trains or extra long trains.

Admission to all activities is free. The open days are from 9am to 5pm on July 11, 12 and 13.
