Keukenhof flower show closed, with record number of vistors

The famous Keukenhof flower exhibition (www.keukenhof.com) has closed for the 2009 season. The number of visitors this year was a record of 875,000.

This beats the number of 835,000 visitors last year, which was already a record.

The numbers are remarkable, as the number of tourists visiting the Netherlands has decreased, due to the recession and the expensive Euro (particularly for US and UK visitors).
However, while the number of UK and US visitors went down, the number of visitors from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France and China went up.

The Keukenhof will be open in 2010 from March 18 to May 16. The theme will be 'From Russia with Love', in order to further promote the growing tourism from Russia.
