De 9 Straatjes is an area of 9 small, cozy shopping streets in the western part of the Canal district in Amsterdam. The streets connect the main canals Singel, Herengracht, Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht in the 17th century center.
The 9 streets are: Gasthuismolensteeg, Hartenstraat, Reestraat, Oude Spiegelstraat, Wolvenstraat, Berenstraat, Wijde Heisteeg, Huidenstraat and Runstraat.
There have always been numerous small shops in these streets, but at a certain point they decided to market the area together under the concept name '9 straatjes' (9 little streets). One of the main selling point is that there are no big (chain) stores in this shopping area.
The 9 streets have a great atmosphere, many small shops, but there are also numerous little cafes and restaurants.
Most shops are open 7 days a week.
