Blijburg beach open in Amsterdam-IJburg

Last Friday the Blijburg beach on the new islands of IJburg went open.

The first few days were a great success, due to the nice weather.

Last year it was unclear whether Blijburg could find a new place. The beach had to move, because of the construction of new houses. After a lot of negotiations, the beach found a new location, close to the old one.

Blijburg can be reached by taking tram 26 from Central Station to the end of the line, and then walk for a few minutes. You can see the flags of the beach from the tram stop.
Of course, it is also a nice bicycle ride, of around 30 minutes.
