Amsterdam public transport partially on strike on February 14

On Monday February 14 there will be less trams and buses in Amsterdam, due to a strike.

Trams 14 and 25 do not run at all, and other trams, buses and metro lines will go less often. Also some ferries across the IJ (behind the Central Station) will go less often.

Train services (e.g. between Airport Schiphol and Amsterdam) are not affected by the strike.

Background of the strike is the government plan to liberalize public transport in the big cities in the Netherlands. The GVB in Amsterdam would lose its monopoly, and claims this will damage the quality of public transport within Amsterdam.

Monday morning there will be a demonstration on the square in front of the Central Station in Amsterdam.
