Amsterdam gay pride parties cancelled because of fear for English soccer hooligans

The yearly Amsterdam pride week, this year renamed to 'We Are Amsterdam Pride', will lose 5 of its licences because of the soccer match Amsterdam Tournament that takes place simultaneously.

Amsterdam Pride is a yearly gay pride event, of which the main event is the canal parade on the first Saturday in August.
Amsterdam Tournament is a yearly soccer tournament, an annual association football tournament played in the pre-season, hosted by AFC Ajax (the Amsterdam soccer club). The soccer clubs Arsenal, Lazio and Atlético Madrid will play on Thursday 2 and Saturday 4 August.

Part of the Amsterdam Pride week are several street parties. Because of fears for the maintenance of public order, the police have adviced to not issue licenses for several street parties. They are particularly afraid that English soccer hooligans might clash with gay and lesbian visitors.
Three parties, in the Red Light District and near Rembrandtplein, will not get a license. Five other parties will have to be shortened or otherwise reduced. Eleven parties will get the required license without a problem.

The Amsterdam Pride organization is surprised and angry, because in previous years the 2 events also took place in the same weekend, and there were no problems.
