Just a week before the Bollywood Festival starts, it turns out that only E 50,000 of sponsor money has been found.
It was hoped that 1 million Euro of sponsor money could be raised.
Amsterdam Partners, the organization for Amsterdam's city promotion, says the time was just too short to do more.
Only 3 months ago the it became final that the event would come to Amsterdam. The City of Amsterdam paid E 1 million to accomplish this.
Normally, companies decide a year in advance where how they spend their sponsorship money.
Amsterdam Partners says it is not a big problem. Next year, the city will organize the event again, and the enormous exposure of Amsterdam will guarantee the event is a publicity success. About 400 million people are expected to watch the event on tv. Also, Amsterdam will attract thousands of extra visitors and the number of visitors from India are expected to triple.
